The Gates Valley

Names for being the most traveled route up the mountain, this valley is literally a gateway to the higher peaks above. As the valley located nearest the bottom of the peaks, here the weather is often more subdued than it is farther North. Though blizzards are a common thing here, and the nights are freezing, most snowfalls are gentle enough, and the area is more than liveable. It is valued because even during the winter seasons there is enough greenery to sustain herds, making it unnecessary for them to migrate. This benefits both the prey, and the predators.
